About Stetson

The Campus

The DeLand campus, just 25 miles from Daytona Beach and 35 miles from Orlando, is home to 2,260 undergraduates that come from 44 states and 42 foreign countries. Fifty-seven percent of our students are female and 43 percent are male. Stetson University was founded in 1883. Its 175-acre DeLand campus is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and our turn-of-the century buildings have been modernized and updated without losing their charm.

Stetson’s DeLand campus has 195 full-time faculty members, 95 percent of whom hold Ph.D. or equivalent degrees and who teach all undergraduate classes. Its student/faculty ratio is 11-to-1. Stetson University offers semester-long study abroad programs in Spain, France, Germany, Mexico, England, Scotland, Russia and China, as well as summer programs in Mexico, Austria and Germany, and faculty-led programs worldwide.

The Center for Service & Learning

The Center for Service Learning (CSL) focuses on curricular support through service learning, co-curricular programming, student leadership and development, staff participation, and volunteer placement. The CSL serves as a vehicle through which to implement our University values and commitments, as well as to meet the interests and needs of individuals and organizations. The CSL’s mission is to develop, implement, and promote lifelong commitments to social responsibility that embrace volunteerism and encourage service learning. Stetson University prides itself on its commitment to values. Because of our commitment to social responsibility, our students, faculty, and staff have the ability to directly engage in activities that foster all of our values and improve the campus, community, and world.

Some of Stetson’s strongest local partnerships are with the Boys and Girls Club, La Plaza Communitaria, the Neighborhood Center, Spring Hill Resource Center, Alliance for International Reforestation, and the CHOMI Micro Credit Program. Stetson is also a member of Florida Campus Compact.
